The big switch

So we made the big switch last night. We picked up the bunk beds on Saturday. (and yes, they are as amazing as I thought they would be!) We put the loft portion up in Avery's room to get him used to sleeping up high and moved the red bed into Brady's room. Brady loved the freedom and stayed up way to late playing with all of his toys.

And yes Allie, he had cookie, ernie and elmo.

I want one at home!

I love the play places at the mall.. aside from the germs, crazy children and kids that are way to big to be playing on them, they are easy, the boys love it and it wears them out!

Cowboy up!

Avery found these hats when I was cleaning out a closet and they became the entertainment for the day.

Brady took his to bed with him when he napped. I hear mommy, and this is what I walked in on. He was hilarious with it.

So, my bunk bed mission might just be complete...

My inspiration or the bunk bed to die for is this navy one from Pottery Barn Kids. I am in love with it and think it is the best thing since sliced bread. It has drawers for a dresser, desk and a bookshelf. It eliminates storage issues and the need for extra furniture. Perfect for consolidating things and packing two boys and all their Sh*#, I mean toys into one room. But let's be realistic here, who can drop $2399 on a bunk bed set, add shipping and mattresses and I am having a heart attack. But I found the next best thing.... Thank you Craig's list and the people who no longer wanted it. It is practically new, not navy, but I got it for less than a 1/5 of what it would have cost at Pottery Barn Kids... so YAY for me and the quest. I manage to wear Josh down with all the harassment and he caved when he saw this and the price. We pick it up on Saturday, so fingers crossed it looks like it does in the picture... otherwise I am back to square one.
Happy Birthday Brady, because this is your present!

My silly shoe wearing monkey

Really???

So the boys have been really good at playing together in Avery's room lately. Today I was downstairs unloading the dishwasher and switching loads of laundry when it got really quiet. This is what I found when I went upstairs.

Brady hanging out in Avery's bed...
And Avery, in a heap of toys. He dumped every last toy in his closet out on the floor. I cannot believe I managed to not totally lose it. We spent the next hour cleaning it up. OMG, it took forever. Every two or three minutes Avery would get distracted with a toy, start playing and I would have to threaten the garbage or cleaning...

Finally things were back in their homes!

Denny's Pet World

On Tuesday, Josh got to take the boys on Avery's field trip to Denny's pet world. Apparently, this is a pretty cool place and the kids LOVED it.

Look who's two!

Happy Birthday Brady O.
(Don't worry, I will be making a cake for his b-day. This was just a special little treat Josh brought home for B tonight.)

A boy after my own heart... hates icky hands!

After the day of craziness, I decided to mix it up and thought a change of scenery might help the boys turn back into their normal selves. We spent most of the day playing at my parents house... (no parents, my entire family except Allie, Ash and I are on vacation...) It worked. The boys had so much fun playing there!

We decorated cookies

Brady wore my shoes around and played hide and seek in the cupboards

Marta, Heather and baby Lila came over for dinner, drinks and entertainment.

Only 2 more days until I am done parenting alone!

Let's just say yesterday was not the best day at the Sattler's house hold. My children were wild monkey's, who thought that they could do whatever they wanted without consequence and Avery was in super melt down mode for sure. (I am sure it did not help that were were on day 3 of no dad and little sleep for Avery.) The morning started off great and it was DOWN hill from there. My sister Allie can attest to it because she got to see the boys in all their glory... all day. The day ended with a quality Allie-Gretch date, a lot of champagne and cranberry, painting, and pickle time .

DIY

So, Josh is on his annual trip to Vegas for March Madness... every mans dream I'm sure. He left on Wednesday and well, I decide while he was gone I would do a little project. I am sick of talking about all the things we want to do to the house and NEVER do. So I started painting the upstairs. I finished painting the moldings and doors white and then decided to move on to the actual walls. All was well and good until I realized the actual height of the landing walls on the stair case. I am sure Josh;s 6'2'' wingspan would reach across just fine, but my little arms were not going to do the trick. All I could imagine was, me, falling off a ladder (because I am all elbows and super clumsy), laying in the fetal position with Avery and Brady jumping on me because they think it is a game.

(excuse the terrible pictures)

After an exciting trip to Home Depot with out of control children and my sister I got all the necessary supplies to finish the project. Let's hope it looks good and Avery does not try to join in the fun.

Bob

On Thursday, Brady and Tyler were playing and Brady found these fantastic Bob the Builder safety goggles. He thought they were the perfect addition to his outfit and proceeded to wear them all day. No joke!

"They are decorations"

Avery and Brady were playing up stairs...quietly, which is never a good thing. When they came downstairs they had special "decorations". Avery thought it would be fun to decorate his and brothers body. At least this is better than the shaving cream... if you don;t remember feel free to look back at pictures from June 2008.
